Sex determination in Anopheles gambiae

A new paper that has just been published in Science describes a gene aptly named Yob, that determines gender of malaria mosquitoes Anopheles gambiae. Over-expression of this gene kills female mosquitoes, whereas silencing of Yob kills males.

Congratulations to my collaborator Nathan on a nice paper!
